I have just finished Sanctus and loved every minute of it.Yes it is Dan Brown ish but so much better.I had a hard time putting it down and I only came upon it by accident at the Library. It did not seem to get much publicity.I will definately read the next 2.

A fast-paced read with plenty of twists and turns in the tradition of Dan Brown and his Da Vinci Code. Of all the copycats out there, this one is worth your time. Toyne has created in the Sancti, villains truly worthy of the moniker of evil. An interesting read overall, though the secrets all seemed to be revealed by the end of it so I'm left to wonder how this will effect the next two books?

If you enjoyed the Da Vinci Code, you'll probably like this one. It deals with ancient secrets, the church, heretic bibles & a mysterious cloistered sect of monks who will commit terrible acts of violence to keep their secret from the world. An Imaginative & fast paced read, it's the first of a trilogy.

I really enjoyed reading Sanctus and found that the mystery kept me guessing until the end. I am looking forward to reading the final two part to the planned trilogy.

I did not like the Da Vinci code. I thought it was poorly written. But, if you were disappointed with the the Code I would recommend Sanctus. A fast read and not too many characters for me. The ending chapters "action" scenes I scanned. Sanctus is part one of a planned trilogy and I certainly will read the follow up novel.

"Veteran British TV producer Simon Toyne’s Sanctus is a far better written, smarter book than The Da Vinci Code, so one hopes that despite the “fans of Dan Brown” marketing ploy, people who don’t like Brown’s work, but who do like thrillers in general, will still pick up the book. Sanctus has enough delicious plots and counterplots to fill a cathedral." Sandra Kasturi Globe and Mail

This is an intriguing, well-paced conspiracy-orientated thriller. One that I would say would appeal to fans of Dan Brown. It does suffer from a rather large cast of characters, and it took me a while to know them all, but I rather enjoyed it. Found it hard to put down, too!
